Homage to Jim
Morrison, Poet

Jim Morrison reads
his poetry in the studio
Sound engeneer: We have about
a...forty minutes tape.
Jim Morrison: Ok, I´ll try to get as much as I can.
"Tsk!" - match
sound - Jim lights a cigarette, have a bow and
starts reading:
"In that year we had
an intense visitation of energy."
"I left school & went down
to the beach to live.
I slept on a roof
At night the moon became
a woman's face.
I met the Spirit of Music."
- Jim Morrison
Jim Morrison wrote a lot
of poetry during his lifetime (1943-1971). After he recorded his last
album
with Elektra records he was free of contracts. At this point he thought
of leading his
life on a diferent way, write his poetry and do films. After 1969 there
were 2 known
sessions of poetry recorded in the studio(one of them resulted in a 4 hours tape)
which Jim planned to
release in the future as a spoken poetry album, just like Kerouac and
other beatniks
successfully did in the 50´s. There are hopes that these tapes
get a proper release soon.
